Hi, my name is Linnea Nicely-Dix (pronounced "lin-NAY-ah"). My love and enthusiasm for dogs began at a young age with family pets. By high school, I knew I wanted to train dogs professionally and was given my first German Shepherd mix for that purpose.
My introduction to professional dog training began as a veterinary assistant where I successfully handled "impossible" dogs rescued from abusive situations. My compassion and gentleness had a calming effect on even the worst aggressive cases. These experiences led me to National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus, OH (1998) and then on to North Star Academy in Sanford, NC (2001) where I haved earned two Master Trainer and Behavioral Specialist certifications.
Since then, I have trained thousands of dogs in basic and advanced obedience training, as well as many support dogs for the hearing impaired, personal protection and security canines, narcotics detection canines, and pet therapy. However, I love the challenge of and specialize in behavioral modification training for problem dogs.
I have over 24 years of training experience and over 10 years of pet therapy volunteering in Virginia, and over 4 years of training in Cheyenne, WY. I have lectured at Tidewater Community College Veterinary Tech Program and have been a guest speaker for numerous Virginia Beach and Suffolk grade schools, as well as for many homeschool support groups/co-ops. I have given talks at many local veterinarian clinics, doggie daycare facilities, pet-sitting businesses, AKC breed clubs, and neighborhood civic leagues. I also had an integral part in the founding and organization of the K9 Strike Team, a Virginia Task Force. Many local and statewide "dangerous dog" and "vicious dog" charges in courts across the state of Virginia have utilized my services in their defense as their "expert witness"
Our reason to move to Wyoming was to explore and hike through this vast land of amazing wilderness and geological finds. Being a homeschooling mother of five children (ages 9-18), we've
fallen in love with this corner of the country; from the Red Desert and the Snowy Range to Scotts Bluff National Monument, there's so much to do and see here!

My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in October 1993, and even after immediate surgery and intensive chemotherapy treatments, the doctors gave her less than one year to live. I was 17 years old and a senior in high school at the time, with a life-long desire to work with animals, especially dogs. Jasper, a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix, was a gift from my mother in February 1994 to fulfill and accomplish my life's dream and to be a reminder of her when she would no longer be with us. I am very happy to say that, as of 2020, Mother is still alive and doing very well. Mother and I shed many tears the week we said "Good-bye" to Jasper. He lived a very full and happy ten years and is missed by all who knew him.

When she sold the farm, Theodore came home to be a pet. After some behavioral modification and obedience training, Theodore earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen in Oct 2017. Due to his large size, he is a huge help climbing up and down Wyoming and Colorado's mountains, mastering Medicine Bow Peak Aug 2020.

Abigail "Abby" is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who was born with "swimming puppy syndrome" (splayed legs and flat-chested) and was originally not for sale. Since this dog was to replace Jasper on the K9 Strike Team, I needed certain character traits in the dog. When I got to the farm and temperament-tested the puppies, Abby passed the test but not the dog I had "paid for." So I reassured the breeder I would take good medical care of her both in puppyhood and in her geriatric years. She is now 10 years old and can beat the socks off any Lab in retrieval games at the park. A few of her accomplishments are:

I purchased this imported live-wire of a Belgian Malanois at six months of age to replace my working dog Jax whose health was failing. However, Sacha never became a "working dog" nor a "competition dog" because I got married and started a family. On this one dog alone I could write a book and share hundreds of tales (one day I just might). Any client in training will hear multiple references of this loving, carefree, very devoted, high-spirited, high energy dog. He was so full of life until three days before he died at age 12. Sacha taught me more about training than I could ever learn from any instructor, class, course, workshop, or book, and for that I am eternally thankful. I could not have asked for a better dog to start my family with. He was the most patient and tolerant dog with fingers down in his eye-socket when my first boy was learning to walk. Each of our boys could handle him with no problem once they were walking confidently.

Jax was a German Shepherd imported from Germany. He was given to me at four years of age by my then-current employer because he wanted a "harder working dog." I had worked with Jax every day for two years before he came to live with me. Due to known and unknown health issues, and thousands of dollars in unsuccessful medical treatments, Jax was my introduction into holistic and raw diets, alternative medicine for animals, animal chiropractic care, and pet therapy with amazing results. His accomplishments from 2000 - 2004 include:
Jan 1994 - Dec 2003
1995 -- Won 2nd place in a local Obedience Class final test.
1997 until he died in 2003 -- Pet Therapy at the JCC in Norfolk & Norfolk Senior Center

Jan 2014 to Present - Cali is a Rottweiler mix that we got from a rescue in NC when she was 3 months old. Jan 2015, when Cali was 12 months old (with my then 6 year old son who did her training & handling), she earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog Certification. Cali now resides with our previous pet sitter in Virginia.
Nov 2014 to Present - Is a German Shepherd that came to us in 2017 at age 2 because she was not adoptable through GSD rescue. -We then added her to our pack (Cali & Theodore) and into our weekly hiking trips, becoming her 5th owner. She became an amazing dog and now resides with a family member in Virginia.
2001 - An imported Belgian Malinois that I acquired at 4 months old. I then started his obedience, drive work for protection and weekly pet therapy visits. At 10 months old, he was purchased by a NC police department and continued his training to became a patrol k9.
Zjef (pronounced "zef") is an imported KNVP Belgium Malanois that I co-owned with Cavalier K9 until my first son was born; I was his care-giver and handler. He went on to win 2nd place in PSA Nationals! He was truly an amazing dog
Philly was a Golden Retriever-mix puppy that I rescued from a very abusive situation. She was EXTREMELY afraid of men and had already become aggressive when she got scared. I took her to work with me every day while I was working at Kabler School for Dogs, to give her great social exposure. After her obedience and behavioral modification training, I then re-homed her with a single mother where she thrived beautifully. .
1997 - ? - Gideon was a 4 month old brindle pit bull puppy that was surrendered to vet clinic i was then working at due to Parvo. .He was my first rescue dog. After a year of training and weekly pet therapy visits to the Jewish Community Center in Norfolk, VA, Gideon went to live with a family with five children. I heard from one of the kids 12 years later, that Gideon was an amazing dog and had recently passed away.
